| Lapland
Tourist Information
Lapland is not actually a country in itself,
but is in fact made up of regions in Northern Finland, Sweden
and Norway, above the Arctic Circle. Lapland is traditionally
the home of nomadic reindeer herders and of course Lapland's
most famous resident - Santa Claus!
Weather in December
Lapland only has an average of 5 hours of daylight a day in
December, known as "grey light" - this is generally
between 10am and 3pm - The rest of the time is like night
time. You might find it useful to pack a torch!
Temperatures can vary from fairly warm days just above freezing,
to -40C at night! The cold, however, tends to be crisp and
clean, not damp, as you would generally find in the UK.

Daily min. temp -40°C

Guests should take a ski suit and a selection of warm clothing
to layer underneath. Don't forget to bring hats, gloves and
scarves for extra warmth.
Can I dress up in a Christmas theme?
Yes – we encourage all visitors (young and old) to get
into the festive spirit!
Snowmobile driving is only
available for adults and a full UK driving licence is required.
Children of 10 and above can ride on a snowmobile when accompanied
by an authorised adult. Snowmobiling is not suitable for children
under 3 years.
We do not recommend any of these Lapland trips for children
under three years of age. This is due to the cold environment
and to the physical nature of some of the activities on offer.
