Accommodation in Luosto

Log Cabins or Log Hotel rooms
Whether you choose a regular open plan cabin or a two-bedroom cabin the standard and quality of your individual log cabin is very good. In each you will find your own private sauna, shower and wc, kitchen area, television, warm air clothes dryer and an attractive and comfortable sleeping area. In our opinion there are no cabins of similar quality located in such a superb setting in the whole of the north of Finland.
Each is built to a high Finnish specification, and the level of insulation is exceptionally high. To top it all, especially if you are a romantic at heart, you will find a wonderful log fire in every cabin (although naturally all cabins are fully centrally heated); ensuring an atmosphere that is warm and cosy.

Open Plan Cabins normally provide 2 double beds built into the wood at a lower level and 2 upper beds (believe us, they are amongst the most comfortable beds you will find anywhere!). Others may provide a different breakdown of beds but will still provide for a maximum of 6 persons.

Two Bedroom Cabins generally accommodate 4 persons although it is possible to obtain some suitable for 6 (ask for a quotation).

Open plan cabins will be located some 5 to 25 minutes walk to the main log cabin restaurant, and 2 bedroom cabins some 15 to 30 minutes.

Five ‘Log Rooms’ are also available within the main building that houses the log cabin restaurant, which are eminently suitable for elderly persons in the party who may not wish to walk to and from the cabins. Please note these five rooms do not have a sauna or log fire. Towels and linen are provided in the cabins and log rooms, and clients may use the facilities such as swimming pool, solarium etc. at the Hotel Luostotunturi at an additional cost. (We will of course be supplying you with all-in-one overclothing and boots to protect you from the elements).

Hotel Luostotunturi
Completed in February 2000 this well-appointed hotel is designed to fit within the natural beauty of the area, and is built in the shape of a Lappish reindeer earmarking.

Twin Rooms are well appointed with shower, toilet, TV with video satellite channel, telephone, hairdryer and minibar.

Family Rooms for 3 or 4 persons can be provided with 2 individual beds and a convertible double sofa bed, or a duplex room with 2 beds at the lower level and 2 mattress beds for children at the higher level reached by a staircase (with safety gate). A highlight is the Amethyst Spa swimming pool (a grouse shaped Roman bath with various water jet massage points) and 2 Jacuzzis, one of which is a unique man-made Amethyst cavern. Breakfast and dinner are buffet in style. For dinner, children have the opportunity to select from their own buffet or the adult buffet. Children’s buffet will feature items such as burgers and french fries and other firm favourites.

Aurora Chalet Hotel
The latest quality establishment was opened in Luosto in August 2005, the Aurora Chalet Hotel is a small quality hotel offering all bedrooms with private facilities and private sauna.

Rooms are of varying sizes, some with private fireplace, and are cosy in nature. Suitable for between 2 and 4 persons offering twin or triple beds with larger rooms having a convertable sofa suitable for 2.

A small restaurant for up to 60 persons in total and a lobby bar seating up to 30 complete the fine facilities of this hotel.

Igloo accommodation
Whether you are accommodated in the hotel or cabins, the lure of the Arctic may prevail. Thus, we have made arrangements for igloos to be built (subject to satisfactory weather conditions) and invite you to request an overnight stay in one at the time of booking. No additional charge is made.

Meals at Luosto
Breakfast and evening meals are taken either in the main log cabin restaurant or the restaurant of the Hotel Luostotunturi. All persons staying at the Hotel Luostotunturi eat in the Luostotunturi restaurant.
Persons accommodated in log cabins (managed through the Hotel Luostotunturi) eat in the Luostotunturi restaurant. Other cabin guests will be generally allocated the log cabin restaurant or, where it is felt appropriate to balance numbers and to ensure the smooth operation of the tour, we reserve the right to allocate the Luostotunturi restaurant.

Traditional Lappish cuisine
(Kertulli’s - optional)
If you would like to eat typical Lappish fayre for dinner during your visit to Luosto, it is possible to eat at Kertulli’s, a small restaurant with waiter service, located opposite the hotel and within walking distance from the cabins. Typical Lappish meals are built around soups (mushroom, salmon etc.), main courses tend to offer reindeer in various forms, and desserts normally comprise Lappish style cheese and berries.

Please note:
Room types may vary. Please check with your sales consultant at time of booking for an accurate description of your room.
